Grim Rider's Website
A site dedicated to long distance motorcycling &
home of the Grim Riders MCC
Date: Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd/ Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th October 2011 - this year there is a choice of which of these four days you would like to complete the ride on.
Thank you for your interest in this year’s October Outing. I have gone for a slightly different format this year, some of which those of you who have completed the National Rally will recognise.
Challenge:
• You must plan a route using the matrix which will be sent to all entrants one week before the ride.
• You can start and finish at any of the landmarks on the matrix – it does not have to be the same landmark.
• Start is timed from the GPS photograph you take at your first landmark – your last landmark must be documented within 10 hours of this time. You must start in daylight.
• The letters on the matrix refer to specific landmarks from Grim rides (see table below)
• You can only travel between landmarks connected with a straight line on the matrix.
• The numbers on the lines refer to the mileage you can claim for travelling between landmarks – it is only a vague approximation to the actual mileage you may travel.
• You will gain points in three ways: for each mile covered according to the matrix; for each landmark on the matrix visited and documented; thirdly for any other landmarks you may visit on the way between landmarks on the matrix.
• Failing to document a landmark visited on the matrix will mean you lose you any points for that landmark as well as all mileage points to and from that landmark.
• Landmarks are documented by taking a photograph of your Castles Ride flag and bike at the site of the landmark, plus taking a photograph of your GPS at each landmark. GPS photographs should show the time the photograph is taken.
• Points are awarded as follows:
Each mile travelled on the matrix: 10 points
Each landmark on the matrix visited: 100 points
Any landmark not on the matrix visited: 50 points.
• Example: If you travelled from P (Tilney) to Q (Somerton) and visited Castle Rising Castle on the way between them you would score a total of 950 points, made up of miles travelled (70 x 10) + landmarks on matrix (2 x 100) + landmark not on matrix (1 x 50).

On the day - complete you ride and then email me copies of your photographs including photos of your receipts.
